The Montgomery Mountain Cats first round pick, starting
pitcher, Jorge Cruz was injured in a recent outing with the Kansas City
Tornadoes. In a press conference late
yesterday, the Montgomery GM, Doug Craft announced his star pitcher was
diagnosed with a tear in the elbow ligament that will require surgery. This injury is expected to keep the 26 year
old Cruz out of action for the next 11-12 months. So far this year the popular right hander has
a 1-2 record in 6 games. He put up an
era of 5.76.
So far this season Montgomery is sitting in second place in
the Bobby Cox Division with a 13-13 record.
