Montgomery AL:  This should not come as a surprise to anyone but the Montgomery Mountain Cats have voted RF Chris Collins their Player of the Month for April.  The Montgomery GM instilled this award upon his arrival to help recognize each months most valuable contributor to the team.  This award comes with a personalized plaque and a small monetary bonus.  When Collins was asked what he was going to do with his bonus he stated "As you can see from my team photo, I had a little plastic surgery done in the offseason that was botched.  This bonus money is going to a fund to correct some of the damage done.  Once completed, I'm hopeful I'll be able to have an expression other than one of complete surprise."

For the month of April, Collins played in 26 games with a .357 AVG. and .471 OBP.  The RF also hit 5 HR's and generated 24 RBI's.

The Montgomery Mountain Cats first round pick, starting pitcher, Jorge Cruz was injured in a recent outing with the Kansas City Tornadoes.  In a press conference late yesterday, the Montgomery GM, Doug Craft announced his star pitcher was diagnosed with a tear in the elbow ligament that will require surgery.  This injury is expected to keep the 26 year old Cruz out of action for the next 11-12 months.  So far this year the popular right hander has a 1-2 record in 6 games.  He put up an era of 5.76.

So far this season Montgomery is sitting in second place in the Bobby Cox Division with a 13-13 record.
